"...only when one comes to listen, only when one is aware and still, can things be seen and heard.... the universe then can be contemplated with awe."
Sigurd F. Olson
The foundation of our beliefs are very important to us. In this busy distracting world, all of us struggle to listen fully, re-connect, unwind and meditate. It is during a time of quiet that our mind, bodies and soul are restored to a healthier more capable form. A restful, contemplative state is essential for our physical, mental and spiritual health. This is true for everyone, but even more so for those that make a living of investing their energy in the betterment of others. For those of us that believe in God, in creation and follow the teachings of Jesus; we struggle day to day to practice what we preach. We need mentors, leaders and church families to help direct our lifestyle in a positive, impactful ways. These leaders are coveted coaches that expend a great deal of energy not for their own self-gain, but for the greater good. Such people need a retreat from their day to day lives more so than any other. We support the passion and investment of our church pastors. We have had many invested in us over the course of our lives in various churches we have attended across the country. We think it's essential that we give back to these hard-working, God fearing, loving individuals that have been such an integral lifeline to help ourselves and our families live a fulfilling and empowered life. We also believe that all of us should make the time to disconnect from our day-to-day distractions and head to a simpler place to unplug, relax and restore ourselves. We feel it imperative to do so more often than not and to do so with intentionality. So, therefore, we had the idea of opening our vacation rental home and 40 acre property to pastor couples retreats, church small groups, leadership groups, mentors, etc. to create a place close to home where people can relax and re-connect in nature, in creation for a greater good.
A Nature-Based Pastor and Church Retreat Here in North Idaho
If you were to ask what the best gift to give your pastor would be, we think it would be along the lines of some form of silent, peaceful place away from distractions. Being a giving person that truly cares for others is extremely hard work. It involves many hours of many days setting aside your own needs to provide for other's. The greatest gift we can give in return to our pastor is a break from the mainstream for them to reconnect with their spouse, their family and themselves. It's a gracious way of saying thank you and that we care about them as they do about us. And, above all, God cares that we value and support one another. For many reasons, we feel our vacation rental home outside Coeur d'Alene may be the ideal, convenient pastor's retreat in the inland and pacific northwest. It is a place of peace and solitude that does not require a great amount of vacation time, or travel for those residing in Idaho, Washington, Oregon or Montana. We have worked very hard to create a home and a wilderness retreat that is not just ours to enjoy, but to share with others. With that, we would love to share our property with your pastor or pastoral leadership team. We also want to reciprocate by donating to any church that books a pastor retreat here at Mountain Light Retreat. For every pastor or leadership getaway that is booked by the church or congregation, we will make a charitable cash donation of 20% of the trip expense to the pastor's home church. We also would like to speak with anyone affiliated with a church in this region of the country to see how we can help facilitate a group retreat to our 40 acre property. We appreciate the consideration of your patronage to our vacation rental, but we are also open to a reciprocal tithe to your mission.
If you are interested in gifting a retreat to Mountain Light Retreat to your pastor or someone in your church leadership team, please do contact us.
