Hundreds of area lakes, big and small; numerous streams, rivers and ponds open a special world to kayaking enthusiasts. Paddle the rocky shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene, less than 5 miles from Mountain LIght Retreat; or float a leisurely 30 miles of the Coeur d'Alene river to and from one of the dozens of boat landings parallel to county road 3 near Rose Lake (15 miles from Mountain Light Retreat), or the Coeur d'Alene River road running north of the town of Kingston (25 miles from our property).
Chain of Lakes & Coeur d'Alene River
"Chain Lakes" is a wetland paradise encompassing the beautiful Coeur d'Alene river and a surrounding chain of 10 serene lakes ideal for kayaking, canoeing and other small craft water recreation. Chain lakes is located just off Highway 3 running south of the small town of Rose Lake. The paved Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes runs right through the heart of this wetland paradise offering great inline skating and road biking opportunities.
